After a long time, Tencent Games has finally shared some specifics about Honor of Kings IP-based open world game, Honor of Kings: World. First announced in November 2021, Honor of Kings: World offers a massive open world in the Honor of Kings universe where players will have the freedom to explore at will, defeating bosses world and do lots of things with friends as revealed in the latest gameplay trailer.
The new Honor of Kings universe is just expanding
The Honor of Kings 7th Anniversary live stream has proven to be huge for Honor of Kings IP. Not only HOK: World released a new gameplay trailer, Tencent Games also revealed a new auto-chess game very similar to the arena of truth, Dota Underlords. The live stream also revealed a new fighting title called Codename Breaking Dawn that appears to be inspired by Smash Bros. And interestingly, Tencent also announced a movie project based on the Honor of Kings universe.
Honor of Kings: World will take players to a vibrant world
The world setting of Honor of Kings looks very colorful, quite similar to worlds like Genshin lmpact and Tower of Fantasy. The short 2 minute trailer introduces mountains, flying mechanics, underworld bosses, etc
First impressions of the flying mechanics look similar to Fortnite as the player jumps off a cliff and opens up a vacuum-like structure that helps him float through the air.
Players will be able to explore underwater as the game reveals underwater swimming scenes. It looks like the game will also have an area focused solely on exploring the underwater kingdom, much like Tower of Fantasy.
Honor of Kings: World will also have a grappling hook like Halo: Infinite. If you like adventure games, you already know how important it is to get this for a better exploration experience.
The battle looks interesting with many options
The combat mechanics in Honor of Kings: World are as good as its world setting. The trailer reveals that players will be able to dress up (pictured below) as Iron Man or Power Rangers.
The battle seems as smooth as possible. While Tencent has yet to reveal whether this will be done on Unreal Engine 5, we wouldn’t be surprised if this is the case. This game will be a gift for hack-and-slash lovers. Tencent’s TiMi Studios has proven its expertise in mobile game development with the success of titles like Pokemon Unite, Call of Duty: Mobile, Arena of Valor, etc., so this adds another hat for it.
Although nothing has been revealed at the moment, it is thought that Honor of Kings Word will be a game of Chinese caliber and it could go global in the future. We hope to hear more about the release in early 2023.
