This year’s 16th issue of Shueisha, Grand Jump magazine announced on Wednesday that Terraformars (Terraformars) Kenichi Tachibana will draw a new sci-fi manga titled Gigantis, based on the author’s G-Gigantis novel Yoichi Komori , in the magazine’s next issue on the 4th. Takayuki Yamamoto is composing the story. The first chapter will include coloring pages and the manga will be featured on the cover of the issue.
The “epic sci-fi” story revolves around a mysterious creature that attacks a peaceful secluded island.
Komori’s G-Gigantis novel premiered in May 2019.
Yū Sasuga and Tachibana launched the Terraformars manga in 2011. The manga went on an indefinite hiatus starting in December 2019, due to Sasuga’s recovery from recent health problems. Shueisha published the manga’s 22nd volume in November 2019 with an accompanying anime DVD. Viz Media is publishing the manga in North America and published the manga’s 22nd volume in December 2019 and the 21st volume in August 2019 along with an anime DVD adaptation of the manga’s Earth portion.
The first 13-episode television anime adaptation of the manga’s spin-off premiered in September 2014, while the television anime of the Terraformars Revenge sequel premiered in April 2016. Crunchyroll streamed both series as they aired in Japan. The manga also inspired a two-volume OVA series based on the manga’s Bugs 2 arc in 2014. The volumes were published alongside volumes 10 and 11 of the manga.
The manga inspired a live-action film that hit theaters in Japan in April 2016.
