With VND 33 trillion, EDG’s parent company expects a modern complex including 2 Esports stadiums, a commercial center, a restaurant, a hotel and an adventure park, etc.
EDG’s representative held a press conference to announce the “Esports Super Stadium” project, which is expected to open in 2025
EDward Gaming – World Championship Champion and the greatest organization in LPL history – recently revealed the plan to build a brand new e-sports stadium. It is called Shanghai Innovative E-Sports and New Culture Center and is located in the busiest city of the same name in China.
Similar to traditional sports, Chinese League of Legends teams have begun to build their own facilities and venues (temporarily considered home). With the construction of an Esports center, EDG is among the few organizations that have a “home of their own” – similar to the case of great rival Royal Never Give Up located in Beijing. EDG’s hub will allow fans to delve deeper into the world of eSports. Therefore, the organization is trying to create a so-called “Super-E” culture that is still quite abstract and vague to the masses.
EDG selected the location for the new facility in Minhang district, Shanghai city by contractor Chaojing Group (under the same parent company SuperGen) responsible for construction. The overall space will have an area of 50,000 square meters, as reported by wanplus.cn. SuperGen Arena will have two stadiums inside, “Super-E-Sports” and “Super-Show”. Entering the complex will be a 10,000 m2 building with a total capacity of 3,000 people and this is also the main venue for international events. In addition, it can be used for small concerts, fashion shows and other sports tournaments.
On the other hand, “Super-Show” is considered the home of EDG with 1,000 seats and mainly serves the matches of the six-time champion Chinese League of Legends team. The organization also plans to create other “multifunctional public spaces” in this project including a shopping mall, office blocks, restaurants, hotels, cinemas, banquet halls, etc. extreme sports park and even an eco garden…
Right now, EDG has released finished images of what SuperGen Arena will look like when completed. If formed, this will become one of the largest investment projects in the history of global e-sports. It is known that EDG’s parent company has poured an initial capital of 720 million USD (nearly 17 trillion VND). It is expected that to complete the project, the investment amount will exceed 1.4 billion USD (33 trillion VND) – according to a report by wanplus.cn. Construction is expected to begin in 2023 with a set completion date of 2025.
