Reminiscent of the Portal series, The Entropy Center is a first-person puzzle game where the player manipulates time with a special gun.
A first-person puzzle game called The Entropy Center, whose look inspired by the Portal series was revealed during Future Games Show 2022. Developed by indie studio Stubby Games, the upcoming title for the… allows players to manipulate time with high technology. While Valve has yet to make Portal 3, The Entropy Center could be the next best thing for gamers interested in such a puzzle style.
When it was released in 2007, Valve’s first-person puzzle game Portal blew players away with its challenges based on complex laws of physics and witty storytelling. This classic game gives players access to the Portal Gun, which can create two portals through space and perform their missions as they progress through the Aperture Science test facility. Along with the 2011 sequel Portal 2, the game introduced GLaDOS players to the lovable villain and other eccentric characters living in Aperture Science. For years, gamers have been clamoring for a new Portal installment, but Valve has yet to make this dream a reality. The recent Aperture Desk Job Steam Deck demo brought players back into the world of Portal, but the indie game The Entropy Center looks set to regain the appeal of the classic title.
An official gameplay trailer for The Entropy Center, later posted to YouTube by developer PlayStack, was revealed during Future Games Show 2022. Although the game has no GLaDOS or Portal Gun, the corner puzzle gameplay First look and its premise make it a successor to Portal. Taking control of protagonist Aria, the player must explore a space station called The Entropy Center in order to reach its core and save the Earth. Puzzles are solved using ASTRA, a talking gun capable of reversing the time of objects.
Before revealing The Entropy Center during the Future Games Show, Summer Game Fest 2022 had many trailers for other highly anticipated games. The digital event showcased never-before-seen gameplay footage of upcoming titles like The Callisto Protocol and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. A cinematic trailer for Midnight Suns from Marvel has revealed that Spider-Man -Man and Venom will appear in this superhero strategy game, and a remake of The Last of Us has also been announced by Summer Game Fest host Geoff Keighley.
While it’s not an exact remake of the Portal games, The Entropy Center seems to capture the best elements of Valve’s beloved puzzle game series. A unique first-person engine that will allow players to solve puzzles based on the principles of physics to escape from the weird and funny science of another world. By turning time to their liking with ASTRA, The Entropy Center players will fight to return the world to the way it was before.
