The international LoL community believes that the LPL is being biased by Riot Game in international tournaments, from the application of Ping 35 to the arrangement of the match schedule.
In recent days, the topic of Riot Games applying the Ping 35 level at MSI 2022 is still being hotly discussed by the international LoL community. Especially when players start sharing their views during Livestreams. Most think that a Ping 35 level will cause them a lot of discomfort, so it takes more time to get used to it.
With that said, the League of Legends community did not hesitate to criticize Riot Games for being biased towards the LPL region. However, there are also some opinions that this is a good plan that Riot has implemented, to avoid the worst case that the LPL cannot attend MSI 2022.
But recently, another topic has revolted, causing the LoL community to argue a lot. Specifically, a Korean analyst pointed out the disadvantage for LCK representatives in Riot Games’ scheduling. Looking at the group stage schedule, T1 will be the opening team of the tournament with VCS representative SGB. As the reigning MSI Champion, the Korean analyst thinks that RNG is the team that takes on the opening role.
This is also not too difficult for T1, but what makes the LCK community uncomfortable is that T1 will have to play 3 matches on the last day of the group stage. While RNG was scheduled to play earlier and finished the group stage 2 days earlier. This is similar to DWG KIA at MSI 2020, they also have to start and finish on the last day of the group stage.
Thus, T1 will have less time to prepare for the next round than the remaining group representatives. This has made Riot receive a lot of criticism from Korean LoL fans. Immediately after that, some comments mentioned that Riot Games suddenly changed the schedule for the Semi-finals at MSI 2021, which had a big impact on the LCK representative, DWG KIA.
Specifically, due to the influence of the Covid-19 epidemic, the organization of the Playoffs MSI 2021 had some problems that caused Riot to push the schedule. Therefore, the two semi-finals will be played on May 21-22, 2021, in which the 21st match is between RNG and PSG, the 22nd match is DK and MAD. It is worth mentioning that the final will take place on May 23 after that, which means the team competing on the 22nd must continue to enter the “decisive battle” without time to prepare.
The results of MSI 2021 as everyone knows, RNG officially won the championship after winning a dramatic victory over DK. However, the fact that Riot changed the schedule that put DK at a disadvantage still made it impossible for Korean LoL fans to accept.
So when seeing the immediate disadvantages of T1 at MSI 2022, many conflicting opinions were posted. It’s not hard to say that Riot is really favoring the LPL over the rest of the regions.
Information about MSI will be updated, hope everyone will keep an eye on it.
