Krafton, the studio behind PUBG: Battlegraounds, has announced a partnership with Naver Z to build an NFT metaverse platform.
In the announcement, both Krafton and Naver Z focused on celebrating the two companies’ unique expertise and shared vision. This will ensure that the metaverse project they collaborate with will be a great success. However, details about the virtual universe platform – metaverse NFT are not disclosed.
All we know for now is that Krafton will use their knowledge of games to “develop tools for user-generated content (UGC) and build a quality virtual world using Unreal.” Engine”.
Meanwhile, Naver Z will use their experience designing and operating Zepeto, Asia’s largest metaverse platform, to manage the metaverse service as well as the surrounding community and social services.
In the announcement, HyungChul Park, Web 3.0 team leader of Krafton stated that they are confident that Krafton will create an open metaverse with high-quality UGC orientation that stands out with services. In addition, leveraging NFT technology will help the global creative economy be appreciated for its importance.
Krafton is showing his confidence as well as his determination. However, it is still unclear what this metaverse platform will look like and when it will launch. With NFT game projects appearing and disappearing quickly, there is no guarantee that Krafton’s efforts will be successful in the short term.
Will it last just a few days like Team17’s MetaWorms NFT? Will it stagnate and refuse to die even though no one cares like Ubisoft’s Quartz? Only time will have the answer.
