In a recent interview, the former president of Nintendo of America revealed his surprising love for the Halo series.
Among all the famous faces in the video game industry, Reggie Fils-Aime, former president of Nintendo of America is one of those faces that many members of the gaming community deeply respect. In the years since leaving Nintendo, Fils-Aime has accomplished quite a bit and remains an active presence in the gaming community. Fils-Aime recently revealed his favorite non-Nintendo game, and it came as quite a surprise.
It’s not uncommon for game executives to enjoy titles produced by other big-name studios. For example, the head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, has repeatedly supported and praised the titles of both Sony and Nintendo. In this particular case, though, it sounds like the former Nintendo president is a huge fan of Xbox’s most popular gaming franchise.
In an interview on G4TV, Fils-Aime was asked what his favorite non-Nintendo game was, and he answered almost immediately Halo. Fils-Aime then went on to discuss how before he started working for Nintendo, his kids begged him to buy an Xbox and play Halo with them. Although Fils-Aime didn’t mention how much he’s been exposed to the Halo series beyond the first game, he still enthusiastically expressed his delight in enjoying the game.
Fils-Aime was clearly not the president of Nintendo of America at the time, but the fact that an Xbox game was released in 2001 that left much of an impact on him over the years really shows. of the game and how much popularity Halo has managed to maintain.
Fils-Aime continues to be heavily involved in the gaming community, despite no longer working at Nintendo. In the years since leaving the studio, Fils-Aime has created podcasts, written books, and even joined the Gamestop board for a time. Either way, it will be interesting to see what else Reggie Fils-Aime achieves in the years to come. It is clear that Fils-Aime still aspires to be a prominent figure in the gaming community after the release of his book Disrupting the Game. The book details many of the stories of his time working at Nintendo, including a rather tense encounter with Shigeru Miyamoto during the finalization of Wii Sports with the Wii.
