The “kings” of Valorant North America will face impending challenges.
The future of North America’s best Valorant team, OpTic Gaming is a topic of great interest to experts when two of the team’s core members will expire in September.
According to multiple sources close to the news, the contracts of duo Victor “Victor” Wong and Austin “crash” Roberts will both expire in September, when the team is expected to participate in Valorant Champions. After this tournament, both will need to sign new contracts to continue to feature in OpTic Gaming’s roster, otherwise the organization will have to face the search for replacement names on the transfer table.
In addition, the players’ contracts will expire next year. However, the source also said that OpTic wants them to stay with the organization and achieve the title together next year.
OpTic will need to qualify for partnership status at the Americas VCT system next year if it wants to continue to compete at the highest level. They will soon receive a notification from the tournament organizer as well as Valorant developers Riot Games ahead of Valorant Champions if they qualify.
If OpTic is not selected to participate in the Americas tournament system in 2023, the future of the players will be left open after the Valorant Champions end.
Previously, they had consolidated their position as the number one team in the region after consecutive impressive performances in the international arena. In April of this year, they were crowned champions of VCT 2022: Stage 1 Masters in Reykjavík, Iceland.
