One of the special features of League of Legends compared to other MOBA games is the extremely fast speed of updating new champions. In the last 2021 season, League of Legends has added up to 5 new generals for many different positions. Even in this 2022, there is no sign that Riot Games will slow down the release rate of new champions. If you look at another MOBA game, DOTA 2, there are only 2 new champions that will be released in 2021, Marci and DawnBreaker.
In the last 2021 season, League of Legends has up to 5 new champions
The downside of this fast champion update rate of League of Legends is that it makes a lot of old, long-released champions obsolete and unable to adapt to the new gameplay. Not to mention that many characters have an extremely heavy “outdate” appearance and are no longer suitable for the graphic quality of current League of Legends. Therefore, the general rework, comprehensive appearance upgrade is a must for the League of Legends development team.
At the present time, gamers can vote for 1 of the next 5 generals to receive the rework
However, the current champion rework rate that Riot is applying to League of Legends seems to be too slow and it makes the community unhappy at all. Right at the livestream introducing the last new season, Riot only announced that they would remake 1 of 5 characters including Kog’Maw, Shyvana, Nocturne, Tryndamere and Skarner only. This once again caused the community to strongly oppose this decision of Riot and ask to speed up the rework of the champion.
One thing that annoys me about the remake vote is that it’s going to take us at least 5 years for all of those characters to be upgraded.
Five years on, guys, this is crazy. It’s almost half the age of this game and we have to wait until those characters are edited. The gameplay of League of Legends is getting worse and worse because of decisions like this. Even after the cast has been reworked, there’s definitely a bunch of other champions that need tweaking. They should consider reducing the number of new champions and remaking 3/4 characters every year.
So we only have 1 champion reworked and 1 champion visual upgrade per year?
Riot said they have no plans to release League of Legends 2, so they will continue to update the game from time to time. That’s why we only get 1 rework and 1 image upgrade per year. When they are done with the rework, there will be 5 other champions to vote again and the journey will continue because by then it will be too late.
1 champion getting a visual upgrade every year is a crime. I think they should do this to 3 champions per year.
I think they should focus on upgrading old champions instead of releasing new ones. We already have 157 generals. Isn’t the new player’s experience bad enough?
I think they should stop making the new champion because it clearly receives a lot of “love” from the producer. Up to now, the creation of new champions directly affects the play rate of current champions because they are old, not mobile enough compared to the newly released characters. Please Riot, fix estranged characters instead of focusing on new champions.
Some characters like Maokai, Amumu also need to upgrade in terms of gameplay
Indeed, Riot’s new champion launch speed is too fast to make League of Legends more attractive, colorful and fresh. However, as a result, a series of old characters are estranged and abandoned by the developers and gamers themselves. Even a champion who is considered “national” like Yasuo also suffered from a decrease in the pick/ban ratio when Yone was born with somewhat superior gameplay and strength. Hopefully Riot will review and pay more attention to the old characters of League of Legends.
Old League of Legends champions need to be reworked at a faster pace
