Netflix’s live-action adaptation of One Piece has been a hot topic among anime fans since its announcement. After its launch, the series received an amazing response from everyone, including Japanese fans. With impressive viewership numbers in its second week, the show has reached its peak.
According to recent data, viewership of live-action One Piece on Netflix was not only stable but even increased slightly in its second week, reaching 14.57 million viewing hours and attracting 19.3 million viewers.
The surge in viewership, combined with the acclaim of a global audience, has fans eagerly awaiting updates on a potential second season of live-action One Piece.
The show’s producers have previously revealed that the script for the next season has been prepared and if Netflix gives the green light, we could see the Straw Hat pirates embark on new adventures sooner than expected. ants.
Tomorrow Studios executive producers Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements recently sat down for interviews. They revealed that there are plans to make up to 12 live-action One Piece parts.
Talking about One Piece live-action season 2, Becky Clements revealed that they had tough conversations with Shuiesha (manga publisher), Eiichiro Oda and Netflix about what to do with season 2 if given the chance.
Although it wasn’t much, they discussed where they wanted to take the story from part 3 to part 6. Their guiding principle was that some parts of the manga were absolutely necessary and could not be removed from the live-action.
Clements believes that even if they were able to make six seasons of live-action One Piece, it would only be able to convey half of the manga. With the massive volume of the original manga, the film can continue to have many sequels. Marty Adelstein said that he expects there to be up to 12 seasons of One Piece.
The production side understands that it must stay close to the original source material and show what fans want to see in the live-action adaptation. Becky emphasized that author Oda’s support was the main difference in One Piece’s success.
However, currently Netflix has not officially given the green light for the second season.
