Tite Kubo’s brand new, much-anticipated anniversary chapter Bleach is now officially available online to read in English.
New chapter of Bleach from series creator Tite Kubo is now available to read on VIZ’s Shonen Jump English website.
The 74-page manga new chapters were released to English on the Shonen Jump website on the 9th. The new chapters continue back in time in the final chapter of the Bleach manga itself, and have revealed the aged Ichigo, Orihime, and his son. of both, Kazui. The new story is the first chapter of manga Bleach published since 2016, and is being released to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the original publication of Kubo’s shonen epic, which debuted on Weekly Shonen Jump on August 7, 2001. While the manga is being treated as a volume, the story seems to set the stage for a new adventure for Ichigo and his Team Spirits.
Bleach tells the story of Ichigo, a young man with superhuman awareness of ghosts, who becomes embroiled in a conflict between the Hollows, a toxic race of spirits, and the Soul Reapers, a group of powerful warriors that protect Humanity’s defenders and souls have recently departed from Hollows. After a chance encounter with Rukia, Ichigo becomes a Soul Reaper on his own, and must learn to hone his skills to fight not only the Hollow but also the alienation within the ranks of the Soul Reaper.
Bleach is one of the most popular shounen manga of all time, and was once considered one of the Weekly Shonen Jumps of the ‘Trio’, alongside Eiichiro Oda still continuing One Piece, and Masashi Kishimoto as Naruto . The series was adapted into an anime series that ran from 2004-2012. In 2020, it was announced that a new season of the anime is in production and an adaptation of the following chapters of the series will be published after the original anime series ends.
The new chapter was originally announced earlier in July, and was published in Japanese with the release of Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #36/37. While the main Bleach manga ended in 2016, Kubo still regularly returns to the series: the author’s most recent manga, Burn the Witch, is set in the same world as Bleach, and earlier in the year Now, the manga author has released a new illustration of the villain in the series. Aizen to help promote the release of Disney+’s Loki miniseries in Japan.
Bleach manga is published in English by VIZ Media. The anime series is available to stream on Hulu, Netflix, and Crunchyroll.
