The recent power buffs targeting Pheonix are really working, at least in the hands of TL ScreaM.
The VCT Champions 2022 tournament is taking place extremely dramatic and attractive. With the elimination of Edward Gaming by a score of 2-0, Team Liquid got an important victory, one step closer to the playoffs. In that match, captain Adil “ScreaM” Benrliton played a big part in that victory. However, what surprised people was not the ‘one-tap’ screen or the trademark ‘flick’ phase, ScreaM was noticed by the selection of Pheonix on the Breeze map.
In the post-match interview, ScreaM explained why Pheonix is suitable for his playstyle and more importantly, the real strength of this agent in the meta after the 5.01 buff.
“Since the update, I feel the changes Pheonix has received is huge,” said ScreaM. “I feel like people are underestimating the power of this agent.” Changing the stun duration from 1.1 to 1.5 and the time it takes for the flash to float down from 0.7 to 0.5 really worked a lot. In addition, faster weapon equipping after using the firewall, and also the full armor return after using the ult but unfortunately being defeated are also completely worthwhile changes.
“I don’t use Operators, so this is an agent that perfectly suits my playstyle.” Indeed with only 6 ultimate points, ScreaM can continuously pick up orbs and use the ultimate to enter to change lives, creating a lot of advantages for Liquid in the recent Breeze map.
Pheonix is currently the agent with the lowest pick rate in the 2022 Valorant Champions tournament. Throughout the past 31 matches, Pheonix has only been picked 3 times, and it seems that there are still very few teams that really believe in cards. This is the main Duelist in the squad except Team Liquid.
