The plane had to make an emergency landing when passengers noticed something wrong with the engine.
Alaska Airlines Flight 558, carrying 176 passengers and six crew members, was forced to return to Seattle en route to California after a passenger discovered something had “fallen out” of the engine. This causes the plane to shake abnormally.
As soon as the crew received word that the engine had failed on the left side and the plane was in an unstable condition, the pilots immediately returned to the airport in Seattle.
Specifically, a passenger sitting near the window accidentally saw something shiny falling out of the plane’s engine, this person said:
“Suddenly I saw something reflecting light, maybe a metal part, it fell out of the engine or the wing.”
After landing safely, the technical team conducted a check for the “shiny object,” which was a metal sheet covering the outside of the engine housing, which had come off for some reason.
“The two pilots operating the flight have more than 30 years of experience, combined with the crew have reassured the passengers very well so everyone still seems to be psychologically stable, fortunately no one was injured. “. Alaskan Airlines representative announced.
The aircraft was temporarily grounded for maintenance and repairs.
