By appointment again, Detective Conan brand (Vietnamese title: Famous Detective Conan) – also known as Conan Movie – returns to Vietnamese cinemas with episode 26 titled Black Iron Submarine.
The work unexpectedly surpassed the blockbuster Mission Impossible – Karma Newspaper Part 1 to climb to the top of the weekend sales chart of Box Office Vietnam – an independent box office observer.
This shows that the attraction from the Japanese animation brand is not small. In Vietnam, there are still a large number of fans willing to spend money in theaters to follow the story of Conan.
New case of famous detective
Adapted from the famous manga of the same name by artist Aoyama Gosho, the content of the Conan Movie series is not much different from the original. The main character in the film is still Shinichi Kudo, a talented detective even though he is only in high school.
Once, Shinichi was tricked by an organization called Black Shirt to drink poison and turn into a 7-year-old child. After that, he lived with a new identity as Conan but still kept his passion for detectives, silently helping the police solve many difficult cases.
Episode 26 continues the journey of the famous detective Conan
Conan Movie 26 has completely independent content from the previous installments. This time, the film is set on Hachijo Island south of Tokyo. Talented engineers from around the world gathered here to participate in the launch of a new camera system, capable of connecting globally and recognizing anyone’s face.
Although unrelated, Conan still received an invitation to the island with a group of close friends. But the trip turned into a mess when the Black Organization began to get involved. Not to mention, the life of Haibara – Conan’s best friend – is also threatened.
Detective quality is too little
By episode 26, Japanese filmmakers have almost grasped the key factor to attract audiences to theaters. The script still follows the old formula: Combining elements of humor and detective, while setting up a tense situation to keep viewers until the last minute.
One of the factors that makes the Conan Movie series successful is the tough cases that challenge anyone to find the culprit. With intelligence and judgment, the main character Conan constantly makes sharp arguments, leading viewers from one surprise to another.
But entering the 26th episode, the crew seems to be exhausted in creating cases. Instead, they spend more time on the action scenes, making the story sometimes strange.
In this episode, the life of Haibara – Conan’s best friend – is also threatened
The script is the big minus point of the work. Because of cramming too many characters, the screenwriters have not succeeded in exploiting each person’s personality and fate. New characters are introduced superficially, while many old characters only appear briefly, leaving little impression.
Many details in the film are simple, not too difficult to guess. The action sequences are intermittent, but there aren’t many really sensational scenes. Towards the end, the story becomes more and more exhausted, creating a feeling of boredom even though the film circuit is quite fast.
In return, the project still creates sympathy with the carefully cared for images and sounds. In particular, the famous composer Yugo Kanno skillfully mixes electronic music and fast-paced rock songs, more or less increasing the suspense for action scenes.
However, Conan fans will certainly be disappointed with a script with many holes and absurd details.
Continue to win in Vietnam market
Besides the robot cat Doraemon, Famous Detective Conan is a famous Japanese animated series that won the hearts of Vietnamese audiences. Last year, episode 25 named The Halloween Bride won big at the box office, collecting more than 58 billion dong in our country alone. Therefore, episode 26 eats and makes it is understandable.
Conan Movie is always loved in the Vietnamese market
In fact, Conan Movie 26 has been released in the Japanese market since April. At home, the film has done very well with more than $ 96 million in domestic box office revenue, according to Box Office Mojo statistics.
Coming to Vietnamese cinemas late after 3 months, the film still caused a fever because it did not meet many competitors. Both the expected Hollywood blockbusters Barbie and Oppenheimer were not released in our country, creating a springboard for the Japanese animation project to win big.
On the chart of Box Office Vietnam, behind Conan Movie 26 are the works: Mission Impossible – Karma Part 1, Devilish 5: Unknown Red Door, Land of the Elements. These are all old movies, released last week, so they are not as curious as the story of the Japanese detective.
Overall, Conan Movie 26 is not a great work. However, the film still achieved good sales in Vietnam thanks to the available loyal fan base and at the same time opening in theaters at a favorable time.
