A very disappointing villain in Mob Psycho 100 who inspired the most powerful monster has appeared in One-Punch Man: Monster King Orochi.
The most powerful monster ever to appear in One-Punch Man, Orochi, was inspired by a similar character in Mob Psycho 100, where this terrifying creature is actually an absolute joke. Both One-Punch Man and Mob Psycho 100 are created by the same author, ONE, one of the most successful and exciting talents in recent manga history. While Saitama’s Adventures originated as a webcomic and was later adapted into a worldwide hit manga thanks to the contribution of mangaka Yusuke Murata, Mob Psycho 100 is entirely written and drawn by ONE, and it has published by Shogakukan from 2012 to 2017.
As the two manga series (both of which have been adapted into anime) take place at the same time, it is natural for some ideas to overlap. The two main characters, Saitama and Mob, are known to have many similarities, but not every fan knows that a major One-Punch Man villain is likely inspired by a character. less impressive than in Mob Psycho 100.
Episode #2 of Season 3 in Mob Psycho 100 showed us the threat of King Yokai (Japanese ghosts and evil spirits) who is about to awaken and will conquer Earth if left unchecked. Yokai Hunter Amakusa Harukai recruits Mob’s teacher, Reigen, to help him on his quest to defeat the Yokai King’s Generals and prevent his awakening, and of course the “Great Psychic” 21st century” brings along two of his assistants, Shigeo (Mob) and Katsuya. Despite Harukai’s fears, two powerful psychics swept the floor with an army of “Hundred Demons” yokai, with fearsome generals, and with the great Yokai King himself. In fact, the episode is about Mob’s participation in the school’s cultural festival and how he overcomes his social anxiety. The Great Yokai King is ultimately just a total joke, at least in the face of the overwhelming power of Mobs.
The Hundred Demons Army side story is interesting enough that it seems like a wasted opportunity for Mob Psycho 100, but a similar story appears in One-Punch Man. The Monster Association is a powerful organization that gathers monsters together to finally get rid of the Hero Association, and its leader, the “Monster King” Orochi, is the strongest monster that has ever appeared. . His design, with a body of snakes that can be coiled and lengthened, looks strangely similar to what few have seen of the Great Yokai King, especially in the early sketches created by the Great Yokai. Made by Murata.
Even the Beast King’s concept of generals is present in One-Punch Man, with the people running the Monster Association being Orochi’s strongest underlings. This theory is further supported by the fact that Orochi did not appear in the original One-Punch Man webcomic but was created specifically for the manga, and first appeared shortly after King Yokai appeared in the Mob Psycho 100 manga.
However, despite the fact that Orochi had a much larger role in One-Punch Man than the Great Yokai King in Mob Psycho 100, Monster King also faced a very similar fate when he challenged the extreme Saitama. strong and defeated with a single punch. . Regardless of both characters’ poor performances, it’s still interesting that ONE’s works influence each other, even if that means One-Punch Man’s strongest monster is just one Mob Psycho 100 joke.
