On the afternoon of October 6, “Little Women” (Three Sisters) was removed from the Netflix app store in Vietnam after the Director of Radio, Television and Electronic Information made a written request. On some other free movie viewing platforms, the movie content has also been removed.

Previously, Mr. Le Quang Tu Do – Director of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information said that the agency had written requests to Netflix to remove the movie “Little Women” (Three sisters) from the application store in Vietnam. for violating the provisions of Clause 4, Article 9 of the Press Law on distorting history, denying revolutionary achievements, offending the nation and violating the prohibited acts in cinematographic activities specified in Clause 4, Article 11 of the Law on Cinema with the same content as the above clause in the Law on Press.
Specifically, these deviations are reflected in the character’s dialogue when referring to the Vietnam War in episode 3 from minutes 58:01 to 58:22 and episode 8 from minutes 5:41 to 7:01. Information in the movie is completely untrue. In addition, the film also has the image of a blue orchid – representing the power of Tinh Lan Hoi – which has a mesmerizing effect, capturing the psychology described as being brought from Vietnam during the war.
Netflix company is not subject to administrative fines because it does not have legal status in Vietnam.
“Little Women” is adapted from the famous novel of the same name by author Louisa May Alcott. The film is directed by Kim Hee Won, with the participation of actors Kim Go Eun, Nam Ji Hyun, Park Ji Hoo, Wi Ha Joon, Uhm Ki Joon, Uhm Ji Won and Kang Hoon.
