A new rumor from some very reliable sources indicates that Nintendo Direct is still on the June 2022 release schedule.
With the Summer Game Fest and Xbox Kick-Off Kick-Off and Bethesda Games Showcase now live, revealing a plethora of new titles coming to consoles and PC in the coming months and years, it seems like the time is right. of the approaching summer gaming events. While a few of the major showcases have aired, one major publisher that is still notably absent is Nintendo. Although Nintendo has yet to broadcast the Nintendo Direct in June 2022, some very reliable sources have implied that it will still be coming.
These showcases are usually announced weeks or months in advance as part of the Electronic Software Association’s promotion of the event, but in 2020 and now 2022, ESA has canceled E3, citing the pretext ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In 2020, this resulted in Nintendo holding multiple Nintendo Direct Mini events spanning several months, but fans don’t know what to expect from the company in 2022.
Regular Nintendo Direct events are usually announced the day before they air, and since Nintendo presentations often take place after events like Xbox and Bethesda Game Showcase, many have speculated that May 15th. 6 is the time to look forward to the next big Nintendo Direct. However, this doesn’t appear to be accurate, as Santa Monica Studio writer and former IGN employee Alanah Pearce has indicated that the Nintendo Direct will air on June 29.
Speaking on her livestream of the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase, Pearce claimed while looking at her calendar of upcoming events that she had heard that Nintendo Direct was coming out on June 29. When her audience was just When she realized that such an event had not been announced, she doubled down and asserted “you heard it here first”. Video Games Chronicle also corroborated Pearce’s claims, saying that they’ve also heard from sources that Nintendo is planning a live rollout later in June.
Alanah Pearce has a long and respected history in the industry, meaning it’s hard for her to speculate on such an event without evidence. She is also a writer for Santa Monica Studio and may have many contacts and industry affiliates who may have relayed this information to her. Timing also makes sense considering Nintendo won’t be participating in events like this year’s E3, although there are many titles the studio still needs to deliver updates like Bayonetta 3, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Splatoon 3, Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope and Mario Kart 8: Deluxe – Booster Course Pass Wave 2.
