A new trailer for Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes introduces the members of the Blue Lions family, complete with gameplay and design after the timeskip.
Nintendo’s Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes is one of the surprising game announcements for this year. It is a sequel to the first Fire Emblem Warriors, although set in the universe of 2019’s Fire Emblem: Three Houses, unlike its predecessor. However, instead of a retelling, the game will take place in a different space-time where the player character before Byleth does not become a teacher at the monastery but stays as a mercenary. Leaders Edelgard, Dimitri and Claude embark on a new adventure completely separate from what the player has seen in the Three Houses.
Since Byleth is no longer the main character, the player’s weapon is a new character introduced to the game, Shez. Unlike Byleth, instead of becoming a teacher, the player will become an academy of Three Houses. This will create a branching path at the start of Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, where they will be forced to side with the Adrestian empire, the Faerghus holy kingdom or the Leicester confederacy.
Nintendo recently released a trailer showcasing Dimitri and the holy kingdom of Faerghus, along with his friends. In this trailer, the game tops off with the kingdom’s banner, followed by Dimitri himself and his spear-wielding gameplay. The trailer goes on to confirm that all seven playable friends in Three Houses will also be returning, complete with their own fighting styles and brand new post-timeskip design.
Dimitri’s entourage Dedue has been confirmed to return, as has Mercedes through some previous footage and screenshots of Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. Mercedes will use a variety of offensive spells, as seen with the columns of light and spells she uses in the trailer. Ashe is also confirmed to be playable, with a set of moves that use bows and arrows and move around the battlefield with great mobility.
Felix will also be back in this game, with a powerful sword move set full of speed and power, most likely taking cues from Navarre’s move set in Fire Emblem Warriors. Annette’s return will have her focused on elemental magic, plus she can use an ax for one of her special moves. Sylvain and Ingrid appear at the end of the trailer, both wielding a spear. What sets them apart from the other playable characters is that they’ll ride horses and Pegasus, making them familiar warriors in the army.
