A new trailer for Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes introduces several returning characters from Faerghus, complete with controversial new hairstyles.
Nintendo has rolled out a new trailer for Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, introducing a new look to the warriors of the Kingdom of Faerghus. These characters are part of the Blue Lions house from Fire Emblem: Three Houses, led by Prince Dimitri of the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus. Blue Lions is one of the houses players can choose to lead and teach as Byleth in Three Houses, but Byleth looks set to take on a more villainous role in Three Hopes.
House Blue Lions consists of eight citizens of Faerghus that the player can teach and train in the Three Houses: Dimitri, Mercedes, Sylvain, Ashe, Dedue, Annette, Felix, and Ingrid. A major plot point in the Three Houses story involves skipping the 5 year period, after which all of these characters have evolved from students into true warriors. This means that each of these characters, along with students from two other houses, have had two different looks in the game. This has been a topic that fans have enjoyed talking about since the release of Three Houses, debating who has the best “after timeskip” looks. While Three Hopes’ exact chronological location is yet to be confirmed, let alone whether the game is in the original story line, it is theoretically set at some point between the two timelines described. depicted in the original game.
A new trailer from Nintendo UK’s YouTube channel shows off new outfits and hairstyles for each Blue Lions character and shared fan. Some were delighted with the new look, like Twitter user houjitsun, who endorsed Ashe’s hairstyle. Others, like taiwonton, were more than satisfied and even tweaked Felix, Ingrid and Sylvain slightly to improve their bangs or missing hair. Two characters that fans seem to agree with are Dedue and Annette. Annette wears a cute new handkerchief paired with pigtails and bow ties, while Dedue has a shaggy top beard and a neat braid woven into her hair.
Some fans are seeing these new haircuts as further proof that the Three Hopes story takes place in the middle of the timeskip. This is because some hairstyles, like those of Dedue and Dimitri, seem to be on their way to match their looks after skipping. Other styles feel like older teens are trying to look cool or rebellious and therefore aren’t quite adult yet. However, some fans are too busy with new styles to make any theories about them.
With the release of this trailer, it’s easy to assume that in the future Nintendo will release a similar trailer for Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes featuring characters from the other two houses, Black Eagles and Golden Deer. After the portrait for the Blue Lion was revealed, fans were both excited and worried about what their favorites from the other two homes would look like. Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes will release on Nintendo Switch on June 24.
