Since the brand Doom revolutionizing the first-person shooter genre to date, there have been many different large and small game series released, and always find ways to stand out. Brands like Battlefield tries to achieve this with huge multiplayer maps, while games like Apex Legends based on Battle Royale gameplay, but there is one franchise that has tried to truly differentiate itself through creativity.
That is Borderlands, with its 15-year history of combining whimsical humor, signature visual style, and frenetic shooting gameplay to create an experience rarely seen in any other franchise. Throughout the three mainline games and two spin-offs, Borderlands has created its own personality. A key aspect in creating that identity is the weapon system, which demonstrates endless creativity. And prominent among them are weapons that seem to be very simple.
Sand Hawk
Borderlands 2 has a huge amount of weapons in the main game alone, but developer Gearbox Software introduces even more with DLC. Sand Hawk is one of them, coming with the Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty DLC, and quickly stands out thanks to its unique shooting mechanics. Instead of firing one or two bullets, the Sand Hawk will fire a series of 8 bullets in a bird wing shape flying straight forward, and can fire continuously.
SWORDSPLOSION!!!
One of the most popular expansions for Borderlands 2 is Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep, contributing to the inspiration for the later game Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. A lot of new weapons were introduced in that DLC, with one shotgun that clearly represents the game's chaotic character, being the SWORDSPLOSION!!!. The main reason is because, in true Mister Torgue style, it fires exploding swords. Each shot is a sword, and when it hits an enemy, that sword explodes into three other exploding swords.
Grog Nozzle
Also in the Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep DLC, gamers have the opportunity to own the unique Grog Nozzle pistol, which is part of the quest from Claptrap. This pistol, like other weapons of Moxxiis more effective at healing the player than dealing direct damage, but its unique feature does not lie in dealing damage.
While using Grog Nozzle, players may notice their screen begin to sway from left to right, and accuracy is significantly reduced. If you're thinking about intoxication then you're right, as using the Grog Nozzle pistol will start to cause the character to become inebriated over time.
Smart-Gun
The Smart-Gun really highlights one of the special weapon variants of Borderlands 3: Guns have legs. When the player loads this Tediore submachine gun, it will begin to grow spider legs, a separate brain, and eyes. Its appearance can remind players of the villain Kang in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtlesand the description of the gun does indeed mention it.
Bane
The Borderlands series is full of loud and colorful characters, but that doesn't stop weapons from joining in on the fun. Bane is an SMG that quickly became famous for its unique effect, where it both screams at the player every time it is fired, while also reducing movement speed. Anyway, in return, this Hyperion gun causes quite a large amount of damage, so it can be considered useful for those who can endure its inconvenience.
