Kodoani.com – KOEI Tecmo Games has revealed the second promotional video for Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse, the fourth main installment in the Fatal Frame video-horror series, on Thursday. The video highlights the game’s story.
The game will launch online in English for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox X|S and Windows PC via Steam on March 9, 2023.
The deluxe version of the game features the Rogetsu Isle Evening Outfit, the art book, and the original game music. Those who purchased the game before March 22, 2023 can also download the early purchase bonus of the exclusive Ruka “Marie Rose Outfit” from the Dead or Alive series. Those who pre-order the game will also receive a variety of skins, and players who play the game on the same device they played Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water on will receive a data save bonus of “Hats” out of the camera”.
Nintendo originally released Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse (Project Zero: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse) for the Wii console in 2008. The game did not receive an English release at the time.
When the main characters were young, they visited the isolated island “Rōgetsu Island”. In the middle of a festival, they mysteriously disappear. The story begins when the girls decide to go back and visit the island again in search of lost memories of that day. Attempting to repel invasive ghosts, relying only on the faint light of a flashlight and a camera capable of capturing the unthinkable, the Camera Obscura.
The original Fatal Frame game features a heroine who uses a Camera Obscura to take pictures of spirits. She communicates with spirits in a dilapidated Japanese house and other settings that give the title (and many of its sequels) a distinctive Japanese atmosphere.
KOEI Tecmo released an updated version of the game Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water on multiple platforms in October 2021.
