Destroying the original purpose of the Academy in North American League of Legends, the TSM team is making many LCS fans extremely angry and heavily criticized.
With some major regions in League of Legends, Riot Games has organized a tournament for young players to find new talents. For example, North America has NA Academy, Korea has LCK CL, China has LDL, etc. As a result, every year there are new names with great potential to enter the professional arena.
However, unlike the purpose of training talent and finding talent, some teams put their “reserve” squads to compete for prizes. Typically, recently, TSM was “scorned” by the Western League of Legends community for leaking information about the new Academy lineup.
TSM has bid farewell to its entire LCS Academy 2022 roster.
More specifically, the source of LCS Eevee (who has revealed a lot of accurate information about the LCS) said that TSM Academy’s squad for the 2023 season includes 5 names: Hauntzer, Svenskeren, Triple, Wildturtle, Dragku.
Of which, 4 out of 5 members of this squad have an average of 8-10 years of playing professionally in the LCS. So many North American fans think that TSM is ruining the Academy tournament – the place to train young talent for the LCS tournament.
TSM Academy 2021 used to have the presence of Hauntzer and Cody Sun.
In fact, this is not the first time TSM has used North American “olds” at the Academy, but in the past there were only 1 or 2 “veterans” to lead the young players. For example, in 2021, only Hauntzer and Cody Sun have about 8-9 years of competitive experience (each).
Therefore, many North American League of Legends fans think that this is the reason that this region has no space for new talents to develop. Because the longtime players come back to… the youth league, the retired players constantly “comeback” in different colors.
