Ubisoft is currently recruiting for a brand new AAA-scale Might & Magic project, a recruitment list has been revealed.
The company is looking for a candidate who can “take on the brand marketing and product marketing capabilities for the new Might & Magic AAA project.” The game appears to be in development at Ubisoft Shanghai, according to the revealed job listing.
The popular Might & Magic series was born in 1986, the first part in the series was Might and Magic Book One: The Secret of the Inner Sanctum, which was released for Apple II, Mac, MS-DOS, Commodore 64, NES MSX and PC- Engine. Since then, 10 sequels to the series have been released, with numerous spin-offs also released during that time.
The series was originally developed by New World Computing before the company was transformed into 3DO in 1996. In 2003, following the demise of 3DO, Ubisoft purchased the rights to Might & Magic for $1.3 million. .
The last numbered Might & Magic title, Might & Magic X: Legacy, was released in 2014 on PC and Mac. It is the first title released in the series in 12 years, the longest gap between projects in the series since its inception.
Published by Ubisoft and developed by Limbic Entertainment, Might & Magic X has received generally positive reviews, ranking 71 on review aggregator Metacritic. Since Ubisoft acquired the rights to Might & Magic, it has released a number of spin-off titles such as Heroes of Might & Magic, along with the most recent game in the series, Might & Magic Heroes VII, which was released in 2015. Free and mobile games like Might & Magic Heroes: Era of Chaos and Might & Magic: Chess Royale were released by Ubisoft in 2019 and 2020 respectively. Hopefully this new Ubisoft project won’t. fans must be disappointed after such a long wait.
