Schools in England have issued a warning to parents about Huggy Wuggy, the scary toy in the horror game Poppy Playtime.
At the end of 2021, the first chapter of the quirky survival horror game called Poppy Playtime was released and has suddenly become a huge success when it is started appearing on countless YouTube and Twitch channels. Just like 2014’s Five Nights at Freddy’s and its horror cartoons, Poppy Playtime also features scary toys that aren’t very friendly to the player’s character.
Similar to Five Nights at Freddy’s, MOB Games tries to turn a boring real-life job into an entertaining horror festival by putting players in the role of a former toy factory employee, returning to the company. Now abandoned after the staff here mysteriously disappeared. One of the first things players encounter upon entering the building is Huggy Wuggy, a terrifying “toy” with razor-sharp teeth and a giant grin that can terrify even game enthusiasts. Even the bravest freak is more or less creepy.
Just as the creepy Momo statue became the focus of a dangerous Internet challenge a few years ago, Huggy Wuggy has become the new mascot at schools that can have long-term negative health effects. psyche of young children. Children have imitated the blue monster at school, causing fear and even potentially trauma to their peers. Things have gotten so bad that some schools in the UK have even issued warnings to parents to stop showing their children videos featuring the terrifying blue creature.
Part of the problem stems from the fact that the name Huggy Wuggy seems innocuous and so it slips through a lot of parental controls. But according to mental health officials, Poppy Playtime’s Huggy Wuggy can cause real terror for some children. The organization Suicide Awareness and Mental Health has released a statement to parents that children should not be allowed to watch scary videos on Tik Tok and YouTube of this killer teddy bear.
In light of this latest warning from schools, police in both the UK and US have also issued warnings about Poppy Playtime and especially Huggy Wuggy, saying the blue toy has been singing songs about murder. However, Huggy Wuggy does not sing songs in Poppy Playtime but third-party videos have been created to showcase this pointed toothed toy. One of the songs has the following lyrics: “I can only hold you here, forever, forever, until you take your last breath”. These videos have become popular on social media video platforms and are now considered by many as the official lore of Poppy Playtime.
Poppy Playtime is a toy game, but it’s not for kids. The game is rated PEGI 12 in the UK, which means it is not suitable for children under 12. PEGI’s description also states that games with this rating may contain “unrealistic violence against humanoid characters”.
