In just a few days, the blockbuster Uncharted will be released, but the film has received a lot of negative feedback from critics after its early premiere.
Uncharted is an action-adventure film directed by Ruben Fleischer from a screenplay by Rafe Lee Judkins, Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, based on the video game series of the same name developed by Naughty Dog. It stars Tom Holland as Nathan Drake and Mark Wahlberg as his mentor Victor Sullivan, with Sophia Ali, Tati Gabrielle and Antonio Banderas in supporting roles. In the film, Drake is recruited by Sullivan in a race against Santiago Moncada (Banderas) and Jo Braddock (Gabrielle) to locate the legendary treasure of the Magellan expedition.
On the prestigious film review site Rotten Tomatoes, the film received a score of 50% of Rotten Tomatoes out of a total of 24 reviews from critics who had a chance to enjoy the film early. Accordingly, Uncharted received mixed reviews, most of the criticism was directed at the script and acting of the majority of the cast, but many critics praised the performance of the male lead Tom Holland.
Not yet released, but Uncharted has upset many film reviewers, can the film’s sales be able to meet the producer’s expectations despite criticism from critics? Because the success of an entertaining movie does not lie in the reviews, but the most important thing is the sales that the movie can bring.
Not yet released, but Uncharted hit the first hurdle
Uncharted began development in 2008, with producer Avi Arad saying he would work with Sony Pictures to develop a film adaptation of the video game series. The film entered a complex production process, with various directors, writers, and cast members sticking together at various points. Filmmakers David O.Russell, Neil Burger, Seth Gordon, Shawn Levy, Dan Trachtenberg and Travis Knight were originally signed on to direct, while Wahlberg was set to play Drake in early development. Holland was cast as Drake in May 2017 and Fleischer was hired as director in early 2020. Principal photography began in March 2020 and was completed the following October, with filming locations. including Babelsberg Studio in Berlin and throughout Spain.
Uncharted follows Nathan Drake (played by Tom Holland), a talented treasure hunter, who travels the world to uncover many historical mysteries as well as uncover countless secrets of many different civilizations.
