In the morning of October 11 (Vietnam time), the final matches of the first leg of the Group Stage of the World Finals (World Championships) 2022 ended. Through the first series, there were extremely unexpected results. It can be mentioned that TOP Esports (TES) fell to the penultimate position of Group C or all 3 representatives of the LCS lost 0-3 after 4 days of competition.
In particular, it is not any team in the LPL or LCK, but the names from the LEC that are leaving the most impressions. First, it is impossible not to mention Rogue. Despite being the number 1 seed of LEC, before Worlds 2022, RGE was underestimated. However, RGE really surprised the audience. They destroy DRX and GAM convincingly. Even the mighty TES of the LPL couldn’t beat RGE and then fell to the penultimate place.
Next, is the 3rd seed of the LEC region – Fnatic (FNC). Not many people have high expectations for FNC; but so far, this team is doing well. They beat Cloud9 – the representative is considered the weakest in the table. But it is worth noting that the victory against T1, this is a match where every position of FNC performed excellently. And this victory contributes to FNC’s second place in the group – right behind EDward Gaming (EDG) because of the same difference but lost the head-to-head.
Recently, after finishing the first leg of the Group Stage, FNC’s Upset – ADC player made his comments about his group. Accordingly, he is quite confident about FNC’s ability to continue: “It will be a bit difficult to point out the names that go forward, but in my opinion, it will be FNC and EDG”. Upset also said that all three teams still have a chance to pass the Group Stage.
The fact that Upset did not mention T1, may have come from the fact that the LCK representative failed to defeat his own FNC. Moreover, EDG will definitely try not to repeat the loss of the first leg against Faker and his teammates. However, the ADC of FNC also commented that the teams still have the opportunity. Therefore, any outcome is possible. It all depends on the efforts and focus of the teams in each of their matches.
