The student community who is passionate about eSports in the past few days has been stirred up by the news that the eSports Club of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (UTE Club) received funding from an organization related to betting on tournament results.
On June 14, on the FB page of X-Stadium Thu Duc – the unit that is cooperating with UTE Club, posted an article accusing this club of receiving funding from the Center of Betting (CBV) – a center that is implementing a project. bet without notifying CyberCore and also announcing the end of sponsorship for UTE Club.
According to information from Game4V, CBV is a center for research and advice on policies and laws for betting investment activities in Vietnam. This is the first and only unit in Vietnam licensed for research and investment activities. However, so far in traditional sports or e-sports, betting behavior has always been condemned because it can lead to an unfair result-fixing action during the competition. In particular, in this incident, betting behavior appeared at a tournament organized by a university in an educational environment – where it should not have been related to betting.
Soon after, UTE Club also officially spoke about this issue on its official fanpage and posted a series of evidence that CBV is a unit authorized to research and invest in betting and is ready to sue those who violate the law. slander and defame the club as well as the school.
However, what the UTE Club offered was only evidence that CBV was allowed to operate but there was no explanation as to why the club accepted a sponsor in relation to the outcome betting issue. competition, so it is still not possible to appease the anger of the students.
Not stopping there, X-Stadium Thu Duc immediately responded to the post of UTE Club by revealing that this club had received a large amount of sponsorship from CBV – about 50,000,000 million VND (Fifty million VND). . This is a highly appreciated sponsorship in the framework of a student tournament. In addition, X-Stadium Thu Duc said that they have also reported to the school and competent authorities all evidence and information of this incident.
Game4V has reached out to a representative of X-Stadium to have a talk about this issue. X-Stadium side said: “UTE Club committed fraud when receiving funding from CBV – a research and investment center without notifying X-Stadium. Until the opening day of the tournament, after listening to the speech from CBV, X-Stadium side discovered that this was the unit involved in betting behavior, X-Stadium immediately asked UTE Club to clean up. everything related to the tournament and not allowed to post any related media and will end the sponsorship of this club.”
This person also revealed that Mr. Minh Duc – the character mentioned by the UTE club fan page in the announcement is the founder of UTE Club and has helped the club develop as it is now and is also the Manager of X-Stadium. Currently, I am quite disappointed with UTE Club members when they act inappropriately when organizing a tournament. The X-Stadium representative also shared that: “The donation amount of VND 50,000,000 was revealed by CBV, this is a rather large amount that can be considered as breaking the general level of sponsors for a single event. eSports club, so you guys in UTE Club probably didn’t think twice when accepting the offer.”
In addition, X-Stadium side also confirmed that the information “Inflating this story because of personal hatred” is completely untrue. This person said that UTE Club was founded by Mr. Minh Duc many years ago and absolutely did not want the club founded by himself to be entangled in bad things. However, the students of the current UTE Club Board of Directors (BCN) continuously have disrespected their predecessor, Mr. Minh Duc, since the beginning of 2022. Even during the opening ceremony of the tournament, the club’s Board of Directors UTE did not invite X-Stadium to speak at all, although it also received a sponsorship package from the engine room with the amount of about 10,000,000 VND.
After the X-Stadium side made the first announcement, Mr. Minh Duc confirmed that he could use his honor to ensure that he had never received any messages or calls from the UTE Club Board of Directors to arrange Arrange this incident as on the notice from the UTE Club fanpage. The X-Stadium side also did not slander or release any information defaming the UTE Club BCN, but the members of the UTE Club continuously made offensive posts and even mentioned his personal name on the post. public on fanpage.
X-Stadium Thu Duc also expressed the hope that the school will take disciplinary measures to solve this matter satisfactorily or replace the current BCN of UTE Club to avoid the case that future members will have problems. wrong decision like the current BCN, this is also the current way that can help the club regain its image in the eyes of students studying at the school and the student community passionate about eSports.
Currently, with the development of Vietnam’s eSports, the student eSports community is also receiving a lot of attention when there are many interesting and useful activities to promote the development of eSports. For that reason, there are many brands and units that are willing to spend money to sponsor eSports clubs at universities for the purpose of brand promotion. However, students should also consider when receiving any sponsorship from brands or other entities, to consider the purpose and suitability of the sponsor for the current student community. now.
