Iñaki Godoy was announced in November 2021 to take on the role of captain Monkey D. Luffy in the live-action adaptation. The film will premiere on Netflix on August 31. In addition to Godoy, other cast members include Mackenyu as Zoro, Taz Skylar as Sanji, Emily Rudd as Nami and Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp.
Before that, Iñaki Godoy had the opportunity to meet Mayumi Tanaka, the voice actor for Luffy in the One Piece anime. This meeting caused many positive reactions from both actors and fans of the series.
The live-action adaptation of One Piece is highly anticipated and is expected to attract the attention of the fan community when it launches on Netflix at the end of August 2023.
