Just a few more days, Disney’s much-awaited blockbuster The Little Mermaid – The Little Mermaid will be released globally. However, on the evening of May 21, many Vietnamese audiences had the opportunity to enjoy this sea footage at the launch press conference. Unlike many controversies over the past 2 years, The Little Mermaid has received many compliments, besides there are some limitations but not really excellent.
One of the success factors that “fascinates” the majority of Vietnamese audiences is the music of The Little Mermaid. Still with familiar songs like “Part of Your World” or “Under the Sea”, this mix brings a fresh feeling, but still has its own quality and is elaborately choreographed in terms of images. The voice of Halle Bailey – the female lead who plays the mermaid Ariel is highly appreciated, and even the crab Sebastian (played by Daveed Diggs) also becomes the focus for her graceful performance.
The LH audience commented:
The mermaid with her beauty is controversial, but I have to admit that she sings well. The music is top notch. Your uncle’s Under the Sea is still too enchanting. Sebastian in this part is extremely cute, the best in the movie.
QH audience commented:
“For 100 years, Disney’s role in transporting children’s dreams, from Snow White, to Sleepless Princess, to Mermaid… is a long journey.
And tonight, The Little Mermaid 2023, once again brings me a real and beautiful ocean dream.”
The top music of the movie
As for the acting, two names are receiving a lot of praise from the audience, surprisingly, prince Eric (played by Jonah Hauer-King) and the villain Ursula (played by Melissa McCarthy). However, the performance of Halle Bailey received many different opinions, has strengths in vocals, but acting is still quite “nascent”. In addition, the highlight also belongs to Vanessa – the beautiful villain version of Ursula when ashore.
DH audience commented:
“The movie is fun to watch, Prince Eric is awesome! Melissa plays Ursula very well, but not too fierce. Vanessa is too good and beautiful. Only Ariel can sing well but act poorly…”
XP audience commented:
“Oh Prince Eric. I finished watching it but I only thought of the prince. This is the most handsome prince, the most attractive face of all the princes in the Disney live universe. Laughing makes me want to faint, look at this. into the eyes but just want to stay in it forever.”
Prince Eric and Ursula are commended
Overall, The Little Mermaid is a “better than imagined” work of Disney. An audience member affirmed that Disney had a successful game when it started with controversy, and ended with a smooth, well-rounded movie. However, the ending of the film was commented as quite funny, although it should have been touching and sweet.
Audience KT said:
“Disney has succeeded in this game. Maybe the way Disney created controversy made people less hopeful about the movie, so it’s a bit surprising that the movie is better than expected. In general, the story of mermaids is not strange, but the live-action version is quite smooth, honest, lively and has no lack of humor.”
Other comments from the QH audience:
“Disney did an excellent job of The Way off Water, so the ending of the film, although moved to tears because it was too meaningful, was also a little laughable but not very beautiful.” .
Currently, according to Hollywood media, The Little Mermaid is expected to earn around $110 million in North America alone in its first week of release, and is likely to be Disney’s next “billion dollar” blockbuster.
The Little Mermaid officially opens on May 26, 2023.
