Recently, App Annie has listed the world’s highest-grossing games on mobile platforms in January 2022. At the top is still the name Genshin Impact, the game has created unprecedented records in the past two years. Since its release in 2020, Genshin Impact has really created a phenomenon in the gaming world.
Interestingly, although there are not too many PvP elements, Genshin Impact is still in the top of the games with the highest monthly revenue. Besides, it won many prestigious awards, such as Game Awards with the best mobile game award category when defeating League of Legends: Wild Rift.
App Annie’s ranking
It can be said that Genshin Impact is one of the chickens laying golden eggs for both the development team, the publisher and Apple or Google when bringing huge profits. Therefore, it is not difficult to understand when Genshin Impact continues to top the ranking of the most profitable games in January 2022.
However, when looking at this list, it is not difficult to realize that there are two titles released in Vietnam by VNG in this top. That’s PUBG Mobile – the second game and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang at 12th. Interestingly, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, although not so prominent in Vietnam, is still in the top grossing list. January, not names like Lien Quan or Wild Rift, which proves that the gaming community of this MOBA game in foreign markets is also “not medium”.
And SensorTower’s is not the same
Meanwhile, Garena, which is famous for Free Fire, does not appear in App Annie’s statistics. There is an interesting detail that, according to SensorTower’s statistics, Free Fire is still in the top 10 most profitable games in January but has dropped to 9th position. According to SensorTower’s rankings, the No. 1 position belongs to the top 10 most profitable games in January. PUBG Mobile, the second is the Glorious King and the third is Genshin Impact. However, it should be noted, SensorTower often statistics include both the Peacekeeper Elite version (Chinese PUBG Mobile) and the inclusion of both the Glorious Royal and the Arena of Valor (Lien Quan), so these two games often stand in the top 1 and 2. 2.
Of course, each unit will have a different statistical calculation and each ranking should only be at a reference level. However, it cannot be denied that Genshin Impact’s ability to make money as well as PUBG Mobile (of VNG in Vietnam market). As for Garena, it seems that January has been quite sad.
