The past 2021 season can be considered as one of the seasons with the most changes for the League of Legends community. Ignoring the transfers or the victories of the teams, even in the game, League of Legends has many innovations. Typical of them and the most influential to gamers is the change in the interface of the ingame Store.
Old ingame Store interface
New League of Legends ingame Store interface
If before, the Store interface in League of Legends was quite simple, consisting of only a list of equipment names in 1 column, and the rest was the place where gamers shop for items, then in the new interface, Riot has try to bring new experiences to players. Specifically, instead of having to struggle to find the right equipment, the Store can now automatically suggest the 3 most suitable equipment for the course of the match to counter the opponent. Of course, players can still freely build equipment in their own style, but it will be easier for new players to choose to build.
I didn’t like the new look at first, but it’s great. When I started playing (old interface – 2019) I felt quite confused. A friend showed it to me so it’s fine. The new interface is really user-friendly for new players. You are suggested what to buy and which equipment is good to counter the opponent. No more clicking a thousand times and no more confusion. I’m not saying every suggestion is good and I’m not saying self-build is bad, but from a novice’s point of view the new interface is better.
Yes, the new Store is truly amazing when you don’t know what to buy. On the other hand, it can be a bit annoying when you have intended to buy certain items and it is not in the usual way.
I’m not saying the new Store is much better, but I love it. I imagine new players will benefit from the Shop suggesting the best buys
But for some other gamers, the new interface is not quite optimal. The reason given is because, every League of Legends match is full of variables and unexpected situations, it is not always good to build according to the suggestion. Not to mention, some of the equipment is being classified into inappropriate categories. One player gives an example that Purple Knife is not classified as ADC but is only included in the tank group while this is the current core item of Varus, Kog’Maw and many ADC champions. is different.
But there are also some longtime players who complain about the new Shop being too “mechanical” and some equipment not arranged flexibly.
However, considering Riot’s purpose is always to expand LoL and increase the number of players, the new interface is still doing its job well. As mentioned above, new players now do not need to use the web tutorials and then return to the build game, but even in the Store, there are also suitable equipment suggestions. Not to mention, below the equipment items also provides information such as which champions to counter, and provides information about common equipment builds that also help new players have a better game experience.
These interfaces really make it easier for newcomers to access League of Legends
In the future, Riot will certainly continue to find ways to optimize the features that were previously available in League of Legends. New players and “veterans” will always have conflicts, but for Riot, as long as League of Legends is still developing sustainably, other things are not so important anymore.
