New Netflix: The Black trailers and other key spoilers provide hints as to where Season 2 could go.
Kodoani.com – In Part 1 of Pacific Rim: The Black, fans were shocked by how the Netflix anime developed the movies. The seven episodes use a preset platform but expand in unexpected ways, offering plenty of solo driving of the Jaeger bot and Kaiju-robot hybrids from Pacific Rim: Uprising, as well as new beasts like Kaiju dog.
Furthermore, it stunned fans when it was revealed that Boy could control Apex, a rogue hybrid, and that he could transform himself into a Kaiju to protect the Travis siblings. With all of this in mind, it’s time to dive into the trailers and details revealed for Season 2 and where the story will go.
Part 2 must stop the Sisters
Season 1 ends with the Sisters, a sinister cult, wanting to kidnap Boy. They call him “Kaiju-savior”, and from the way they control the Kaiju-Dogs, it feels like they have a mystical atmosphere. This would ruin the franchise a lot, with clips showing Hayley asking the team to return to save the boy from paranormal rituals. It seems Taylor wants to leave to see if they can find their parents in Sydney, while Hayley doesn’t. As a result, fans are excited to know what powers the Soeurs have, what other animals they’re controlling, and if the Boy will appear again. If he rejected the siblings, it proved Taylor was right.
Season 2 will focus on Shane’s vengeful hunt
Shane, the mercenary leader from Bogan, wants the children dead after they take Jaeger, the Atlas Destroyer, and leave his camp in disarray. Mei also betrayed him, helping the teenagers, so Shane will want revenge for that. He killed Joel, but tracking Mei could have been a mistake. Joel confessed that Shane kidnapped her as a child, brainwashed her through Drift, and weaponized her. If he kills her family, Mei will go to war with him, as that will allow her to exact revenge. However, Shane is able to conspire with other gangs to support him, as he has an extremely good manipulative eloquence.
Part 2 may reveal the true fate of parents
Taylor and Hayley haven’t seen their parents in over a decade, but after finding their Jaeger and a video message, they believe they are at the Pan Pacific Defense Corps base in Sydney. However, after Australia was bombed in Blackout to destroy the Kaiju invaders, it is likely that they were killed. Even if they survived, Kaiju invasions increased, so with fewer weapons and resources, they could only stand still. This would be a dark conclusion, but with the way the aliens created a progenitor-human hybrid as a spy and a hybrid masquerading as Apex on the run, the chances of survival are slim.
Part 2 Must heal the heroes’ minds
The trailer suggests that Taylor may need to find Drift technology to mend her fractured mind. He cross-connected to learn to drive solo at the beginning of Season 1, but it messed up his memories, putting the memory of Herc Hansen – the movie legend – in his mind. Taylor needs to get rid of that in order to be a proper protector for her group. Mei may also need to use technology to figure out what Shane reprogrammed in her mind when he treated her like a child in order to turn her into a soldier. As far as she knows, she may have suffered a mental breakdown, especially if Shane had killed her family and augmented her brain to track him down.
