Of the Worlds (Worlds) champions, FunPlus Phoenix (FPX) is the name that shows the fastest decline. After being crowned Worlds 2019, FPX is absent from the biggest international tournament of League of Legends right in 2020. To Worlds 2021, FunPlus Phoenix has to leave the tournament from the Group Stage.
Returning from Worlds 2021, FPX’s world champion squad has officially disbanded. Specifically, Gimgoon announced his retirement and Tian joined TOP Esports. Doinb joined LNG Esports, while Crisp moved to BLG. Only Lwx is still attached to FPX in the 2022 season.
However, many reputable sources have confirmed that Doinb will reunite with Lwx in the 2023 season. Accordingly, Light (LNG’s current AD carry) is expected to join Weibo Gaming. And perhaps Lwx will be brought back to reunite with Doinb at LNG.
In all fairness, LNG is a good team in the LPL region. LNG’s biggest weakness is its bravery when entering an important period. With the addition of Lwx, the bottom lane position of LNG Esports will be much more certain.
It’s worth mentioning for LNG that they need to find a top-class Top laner to replace Ale (who can move to EDG). Hopefully, LNG will solve this problem and increase the odds of title competition in the upcoming 2023 season.
