Manga adaptation of Inuyasha’s sequel premieres September 25
The official website for Inuyasha’s Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon (Han’yō no Yasha Himeanime spinoff) announced on Friday that the anime is inspired by a manga by author Takashi Shiina. The manga inspired a 52-episode television anime series in 2008, as well as an anime video adaptation. original 2010. Sentai Filmworks released the series in North America in 2012 as Psychic Squad. A spin-off anime centered on the villain in the Kyōsuke Hyōbu series titled The Unlimited – Hyōbu Kyōsuke aired in 2013. Crunchyroll streamed the series, and Sentai Filmworks released the series on home video in 2015.
The first season of the Yashahime anime premiered in Japan in May 2020. Viz Media began releasing the anime with English subtitles on Crunchyroll, Funimation, and Hulu on the same day in the Northern territories and Latin America. Funimation is partnering with Viz Media to release the anime’s English dub. Adult Swim’s Toonami channel premiered the anime on June 26.
Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon – The Second Act ( Hanyō no Yashahime: Ni no Shō ), the second season, will premiere on Yomiuri TV and NTV on October 2. Viz Media has confirmed that the anime will stream on Crunchyroll, Funimation and Hulu.
Viz has the rights to “digital, EST and home video streaming” of the anime in the North and Latin American territories. The company describes “a brand new anime from the Inuyasha universe”:

In feudal Japan, half-demon twins Towa and Setsuna were separated from each other in a forest fire. While desperately searching for her sister, Towa got lost in a mysterious tunnel that brought her to present-day Japan, where she was found and raised by Kagome Higurashi’s brother, Sota, and his family.
Ten years later, the tunnel connecting the two eras was reopened, allowing Towa to be reunited with Setsuna, who is now a Demon Slayer working for Kohaku. But to Towa’s shock, Setsuna seemed to have lost all memories of her older sister.
Joined by Moroha, the daughter of Inuyasha and Kagome, three young girls travel between the two eras on an adventure to retrieve their lost past.
Teruo Sato (Inuyasha episode director) directed the anime at Sunrise, and Katsuyuki Sumisawa is in charge of the series scripts after doing the same for Inuyasha and Mobile Suit Gundam Wing. Takahashi herself is said to be designing the main characters, along with Yoshihito Hishinuma (Yakitate!! Japan, City Hunter: Shinjuku Private Eyes) returning from Inuyasha to adapt her designs for the animation. Kaoru Wada (3×3 Eyes, Battle Angel, The File of Young Kindaichi) has also returned from Inuyasha to compose music.
Takahashi launched the original Inuyasha manga in Weekly Shonen Sunday in 1996, and ended the manga in 2008. Viz licensed and published all 56 volumes of the manga in North America.
The 167-episode Inuyasha anime series based on the manga was released from 2000-2004. A 26-episode anime sequel titled InuYasha: The Final Act was later released from 2009-2010. The series has adapted four films and a 30-minute anime short. Viz began releasing the anime on Blu-ray Disc in 2019.
The franchise has also recently adapted into a phone game and a stage play.
