Square Enix shares new information about an important Final Fantasy 16 character named Benedikta Harman, who plays the role of Dominion of Eikon Garuda.
Square Enix debuted a new trailer for Final Fantasy 16 during the PlayStation State of Play event this past Thursday. The trailer focuses on the Eikons from Final Fantasy 16, better known as the Summons of the previous Final Fantasy series. In Final Fantasy 16, each character born associated with the gods is able to become a Dominion, which means they possess an Eikon within themselves. These rulers can control the fate of nations by their own strength. One of the new Dominions introduced in the new Final Fantasy 16 trailer is called Benedikta Harman, the Dominion of Eikon Garuda.
Benedikta can be seen several times in the recent trailer for Final Fantasy 16, as well as his Eikon Garuda. She can even be seen transforming into Garuda, which has also answered previous fans’ questions as to whether these Rulers can merely summon their Eikon. can completely transform into them for battle. However, the trailer doesn’t really revolve around Benedikta entirely, nor does it help players fully explore the character or her true backstory. Fortunately, that information was confirmed by Square Enix elsewhere.
In an announcement posted on the official Final Fantasy 16 Twitter account, a brief introduction to the new character Benedikta is revealed. In her biographical description, it is explained that Benedikta has become “cold and ruthless”, and that she has “superhuman sword skills”. As a result, she took command of Waloed’s nation of elite intelligence agents. These spies are depicted on a mission in Final Fantasy 16 to hunt down the second Eikon of Fire. As a result, she encounters Final Fantasy 16 protagonist Clive Rosfield and is said to be forced to “face her past”.
Those who have been following the news of Final Fantasy 16 will know that the Ruler of the “first” Eikon of Fire, Phoenix, is Joshua, the younger brother of Clive. Since Joshua inherited the Phoenix instead of Clive, Joshua became the Archduke of the Grand Duchy of Rosaria. Clive thus becomes Joshua’s first Rosaria Shield, until he inherits the dark Eikon Ifrit – the “second” fire Eikon.
The story of Clive inheriting Eikon Ifrit and why Benedikta hunts them will be discovered by the players themselves. The only clues available are that Waloed, the nation from Benedikta, has an advanced military and uses Eikons to stop uprisings. It can only be said that very brutal and belligerent, perhaps Waloed wanted to capture Rosaria for himself.
Final Fantasy 16 will have content centered around wars between nations, as well as a deep story about the game’s characters. Benedikta was originally the Dominion of Garuda, she will play an important role in this story. What that is and how it will play out is up to players to discover when Final Fantasy 16 launches next year. Final Fantasy 16 releases in the summer of 2023 on PS5.
