Sega recently announced Hyenas, a multiplayer shooter game for consoles and PC.
The game is Creative Assembly’s long-awaited shooter project. The studio behind Total War has been working on shooters for the last couple of years, describing it on the job listing as “this is a very different project from other FPS games” or in other words: will have a quirky style.
During an online event on Wednesday, the developer described the game as a “multiplayer shooter” in which five teams of three, including AI, will battle against each other. each other to plunder the spoils from the vast spaceships of the enemy.
“It’s five teams of three set aboard vast spaceships lined with security traps to keep players out, with a cast of characters that couldn’t be better,” said creative director Charlier Bewsher , who previously directed the design with the Read Dead Redemption Online project.
The game’s story sees the wealthy inhabitants of Earth set off to Mars, where they will destroy the aging Earth and leave those at the bottom of society. The rich will find a way for their spacecraft to return to Earth to collect the remaining resources, and this is an opportunity for the “abandoned people” to launch attacks and plunder.
The player’s mission is to attack these ships and loot their cargo, fighting AI-controlled security forces or other players’ squads for control of resources and ships. . Bewsher said CA was keen to create a game that didn’t take itself too seriously, with a novel graphic art style, instead of the “dark and gloomy” look and feel of many other post-apocalyptic shooters.
As the publisher shared, Hyenas will be a key project in the next few years to compete with other multiplayer shooter titles such as Apex Legends, Fortnite, etc.
