After Overwatch officially shut down the entire server cluster to prepare for the next part. However, the game Overwatch 2 encountered many problems on the first day of its release. Specifically, according to Blizzard president Mike Ybarra, when sharing on Tuesday that the company is doing its best to resolve issues that prevent players from accessing the game in large numbers.
“Our teams are working hard on server issues with Overwatch 2,” Mike tweeted. “We are very pleased with the excitement of the players and will continue to focus on improving the quality of the servers and making the players happy! Many thanks for your patience.
Following reports of improvements earlier on Wednesday, Overwatch 2’s servers appear to be down again, based on multiple sources reported online. The Down Detector website, which used user reports to monitor the online status of major networks, is showing a spike in the number of Overwatch 2 players experiencing problems accessing the game over the past few hours.” Unfortunately, we are experiencing a mass DDoS attack on our servers,” added Ybarra. “The teams are working hard to minimize the inadequacies in server management. This is causing a lot of network drops and disconnections for players.”
An in-game message sent to affected players reads: “We are aware that some players are experiencing unexpected server error messages when attempting to log in. This is being actively remedied. Thank you for your patience.” Overwatch 2 launched and gave gamers early access yesterday as a free title for PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4 and Nintendo Switch. Players who want to participate in the game are required to have a mobile number linked to their Battle.net account, but some users have also reported problems with this new security system.
Overwatch 2 will have seasonal updates, spaced out every nine weeks with lots of new content including heroes, game modes, maps, and cosmetics. New players to the experience will have to play 100 matches to unlock all the heroes of the original version. Other features such as in-game chat and the game’s competitive mode are also locked until new players meet certain requirements. This will make the difference between players who own Overwatch 1 and newbies.
