During the livestream announcing the new content of Wild Rift Season 2022, the Elemental Map and Dragon’s Soul were among the content that the community was most interested in.
Wild Rift currently has 4 elemental dragons for players to destroy: Earth Dragon, Wind Dragon, Water Dragon and Fire Dragon. However, in the near future, each match will have a dominant element and radically change the map. Each Elemental Map affects teamfights, vision, and target control, so the path to victory will vary from game to game.
For example: Fire Dragon will destroy walls and burn grass, Earth Dragon will create new terrains in the forest, Water Dragon will cause grass bushes and healing fruit to grow, Wind Dragon will turn paths into wind tunnels to accelerate your mobility.
Now, each elemental dragon will give your team special buffs. But with the Elemental Map, if your team kills the first 3 dragons, they will get a big advantage of the Dragon’s Soul in that match.
Defeating the Fire Dragon strengthens the team with attack power and magic power. If you capture the Fire Dragon’s soul, your basic attacks and skills will have an explosive effect when hitting the target. Earth Dragon increases defensive stats such as armor and magic resistance with a soul that creates a solid shield to make your team stronger. Wind Dragon will allow you to soar across the map, increasing movement speed and slow resistance. This dragon spirit also helps you move faster after using the ultimate. Finally, the Water Dragon will help your team recover from teamfights with its passive healing ability. With this dragon soul, your team will get more health when dealing damage to enemies.
With the appearance of Dragon Soul, players will need to carefully consider the gameplay as well as the goals that the team is aiming for, especially the jungler. With strong squads in the late game, players can accept to give up 1, 2 or even the first 3 Dragons so that the mains can reach the desired strength threshold. In contrast, with strong squads early and mid-game, competing for Dragons and getting Dragon Souls soon will be a huge advantage.
Regarding the plan for the Elder Dragon, Riot is still figuring out how to bring this monster to Wild Rift. More details will be revealed by the Riot team in the next few months.
