Kodoani.com – Warner Bros. Japan announced on Friday that the manga Tsume Arata no Kekkon (Arata Natsume's Wedding or NATSUME ARATA'S WEDDING) by Tarō Nogizaka will be adapted into a live-action film and will premiere in Japan on September 6. Yukihiko Tsutsumi (live-action director of 20th Century Boys , Beck, Ikebukuro West Gate Park) will direct the film.
The film will star Yuuya Yagira (live-action Gintama's Tōshirō Hijikata) as Arata and Yuina Kuroshima (live-action Fullmetal Alchemist's Lan Fan) as Shinju Shinagawa.
In the manga's story, Arata was once a criminal who worked at a child welfare center. After consulting with the family of one of serial killer Shinju Shinagawa's victims, Arata visits Shinju in prison. To try to find out the truth of the incident, he proposed to her. Shinju, who was on death row, then started toying with Arata.
The manga was serialized in Shogakukan's Big Comic Superior magazine from June 2019 to January 2024 and has a total of 12 volumes. The manga series has 2.4 million copies in circulation.
