Making skins for Wild Rift takes twice as long as League of Legends, so Riot had to choose champions as skins long before launch.
From the perspective of many gamers, the two titles LoL and Wild Rift are almost 100% similar. But in terms of costumes in particular, not every product in Wild Rift also appears in League of Legends and vice versa.
Explaining this, Riot EarthSlug – the head of Wild Rift’s skins segment said that only some skins will be released in both games, while others will be exclusive.
Accordingly, Riot EarthSlug explains that choosing a champion to launch a skin will depend on the last time that champion had a skin, the total number of skins, the context (plot) of the champion is suitable for the theme of the skin or not. … and many other details.
In fact, Wild Rift has very few champions (79) compared to League of Legends (160), so Wild Rift will have fewer options when launching a skin with the same theme as League of Legends. Not only that, making skins for Wild Rift takes twice as long to make for League of Legends (the main reason is because of the “four-way rotation” feature in Wild Rift). So each skin has to be carefully selected and long before it is officially released.
After choosing a champion to launch the skin, if appropriate, Riot will launch it in both League of Legends and Wild Rift, otherwise, it will be released exclusively (even if only temporarily) in 1 of 2 titles. game. However, because Riot Games targets different audiences (players as well as customers) in League of Legends and Wild Rift, the launch skins will also be considered according to this criterion to optimize revenue.
Those are the reasons that Wild Rift has exclusive skins compared to League of Legends, for example some of the Star Guardian skins of Seraphine and Orianna are currently only available in Wild Rift.
