After losing a $2.9 million lawsuit in the previous lawsuit, the developer of Mobile Legends has continued to be sued by Riot Games for the second time.
Four years ago, Riot Games filed a lawsuit against Moonton for the Mobile Legends: 5v5 MOBA game that plagiarized League of Legends. A judge in California rejected this lawsuit, but after Tencent (the parent company of Riot Games) got involved, Riot Games won the case and was awarded $ 2.9 million.
To this day, Riot Games has continued to sue Moonton again in a California court, this time, Moonton is accused of plagiarizing League of Legends: Wild Rift.
Accordingly, Riot Games’ lawsuit said that after complaining to Google, Mobile Legends was removed from the Google Play store, but Moonton surreptitiously released Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, “a tweaked version of Mobile Legends” – extract from the lawsuit.
“Moonton has updated MLBB to copy elements from League of Legends: Wild Rift, continuing Riot Games’ intellectual property misappropriation,” the lawsuit states.
In the previous lawsuit, Riot Games’ lawsuit in California was denied, so this lawsuit filed by Riot Games in the US is considered a “procedure” before Tencent stepped in and sued Moonton in China.
It is known that Riot Games’ most recent lawsuit was in January 2022, accusing a Vietnamese game developer of plagiarizing the game Teamfight Tactics.
