In March 2022, the International Olympic Committee announced that Esports would feature at the Commonwealth Games. The Esports tournament at Birmingham 2022 will be called Commonwealth Esports Championship 2022 (CEC 2022), held at Birmingham International Convention Center for 2 days, August 6 and 7.
The 3 sports selected to compete at CEC 2022 are Dota 2, eFootball and Rocket League, respectively. Although they are not official sports, high-achieving athletes will still receive medals and honors.
